How To DIY Chalkboard Sign

My little etsy shop is going to be at the 330 swap & shop.  This will be my first time setting up "shop" & I'm super nervous about it.   I needed a shop sign & had an idea of what I wanted.  I found myself last weekend at a flea market picked up a old serving tray and my wheels starting turning.  The serving tray was only $2!  I instantly knew I wanted to make it into a chalkboard sign.

Instead of priming the tray I used sand paper.

I picked up this chalkboard paint at Menard's for $9!  They have one that is actually dye able so you can choose a variety of colors.  I choose classic black.

I picked up this plate holder at the same flea marker for $1.  It needed some updating I used leftover pink spray paint.  It took 2 layers of paint and it was good to go.

I'm quite proud of the turn out!  We went to a few stores looking for chalk and have had no luck but Ill stop my an office store soon.  The chalk paint took 3 layers for a even look.  It drys very fast & was very easy to do.

Happy Monday!
