As Stacia mentioned she is starting a new series for the month of November called "Big style in a tiny apartment." I am very honored to start off the blog for her with this DIY project. There were actually 3 different projects that I started to make the most of the items I already had by changing their appearance and adding a few simple items to make them really stand out. I will be sharing on of those projects with you today. This is the first time I have ever even thought about a blog, let alone publish one, so here goes :)
So these were 6 chairs that were lovingly given to my fiance and me by our pastor and his wife to start off our new marriage. So we knew they would need some aesthetic improvements and the padding inside of them needed a little help as well. The process for reupholstering them was surprisingly simple. We waiting until the fabric and padding went on sale at Joanna Fabric then used additional coupons on top to get the best price possible.
1. Remove the old fabric and padding (unless the padding can be reused)
2. Sand or smooth out any chipped or rough edges on the bottom and sides.
3. Choose a higher quality material for the fabric (lower quality will tear and puncture a lot easier)
4. Cut the fabric into squares about 2-3'' wider than the widest part of the chair. For our 6 standard size dinner chairs we needed 2 1/2 yards of fabric and padding.
5. With a partner, stretch the fabric one side at a time and attach with a staple gun.
A partner is necessary because the fabric should be stretched tightly and held down while the other person staples.)
6. Be sure to fold in the corners and continually flip over the seat to be sure it is smooth and even, especially the corners.
7. Trim off any overly long fabric on the bottom that has not been stapled down.
8. You will then need to nail/screw the seat to the base of the chair. (This is also simpler with a partner.)
And here is the finished product:
So the total amount spent for this project:
1. Fabric $12
2. Padding $15
3. Staples $5
Thanks for your time reading this, hopefully it gave a little insight and helpful tips for you to spruce up your dinning furniture!

When I left I was so impressed with the results. Hopefully the new do will allow me to extend the time in between appointments, allowing me to save more $.
So here is the new ombre look.

I really like this outfit. You can tell that its the bow skirt that I'm wearing but it wasn't the bad out of the sunlight. I had help picking out this sweater which was definitely needed. I would of never picked this color on my own. I love this necklace its such a statement necklace but something I could wear with a lot of outfits.
The week is almost over, which means a video tomorrow!
Abby has added 3 great scarfs to her closet (2 shown), a skinny belt and a few very basic everyday pieces that she can interchange to make multiple outfits. We had a great time going through her closet, going shopping and finally Ive been shooting her photos for the last 6 weeks to put this final post together. As mentioned in this video I am offering personal shopping and closet interventions. If you are looking for some help in this area email me and I can give you a packaged price!

These classic beauty's are on my wish list. I love the sweetheart neckline and the fabrics coming together. Since the saddleback collection was introduced on shabby apple I have been eyeing the "grand national". While looking on thelimited.com earlier this week I noticed their version and I love the hounds tooth. Which do you prefer?
Excuse my lack of outfit photos, the constant rain here in Ohio is my excuse.
My skirt came in the mail and was too big so I exchanged for a smaller size and it arrived yesterday! I have to say shabby apple has a very quick turn around and was very helpful when I called in about the exchange. I have been eyeing this skirt for about 6 months and when the $10 birthday credit came in my inbox I knew it was time.
So I love it. I love the high waist. I love the quality. I love the bow and I love that I feel like a woman. It was worth the wait! I have my eye on a few other pieces from Shabby Apple. Maybe they will send out a Holiday credit?! That would be awesome.
On another note I hope you enjoyed my special purse post yesterday. Do you have something you always have to have in your purse? Mine is Burt's bees chap stick. I love it!
I'm a Vera Bradley fan and I read their blog, they have a great post that appears regularly that features a staff member and the contents of their purse. So here goes my version.
A special peek in to my purse.....
1. My favorite vintage looking sunglasses $1 from Dollar Tree
2. Small Vera Bradley Cosmetic bag in mod floral blue
3. Day planner
4. Vintage wallet and checkbook. I would love this check book cover.
5. Vera Bradley let me check spiral. Really cute spiral full of pages to make check lists
6. Burt's bees lip gloss
7. Rubber bands, pens and a mini first aid kit.
8. My current bible study: Experiencing Gods Peace by Elizabeth George. Can be bought:here.
And currently my favorite every day kind of purse which I put it all in:
Why I love this purse:
It is brown, black and tan! That means more usage! Yeah!
I'm so honored to guest blog on FTBSL for many reasons. She's been a longtime friend and always someone who I have admired for her sense of self and her gumption. She's so unique and thats what makes this blog a must read for me every week!
Reading fashion blogs is a great way for me to become inspired. Also living in Los Angeles and people watching is always a good source of fashion inspiration for me. I'm not sure there is any other city where I can see 3 different seasons at once. On any given day I will see someone wearing shorts, scarves and gloves, and a cute fall jacket. It amazes me how there are no style rules here.
I'm a huge believer in reworking clothes that don't fit or that I'm bored with to make it exciting again. I hate to spend more that $40 on anything so I usually shop at Forever 21, H&M, and sale racks anywhere. Not one item in this outfit cost more than $30. In total, the whole look including jewelry & purse was under $125.
Shirt is actually a dress that's too short - H&M
Fur Stole - H&M
Necklace - Jewlmint
Bag (above) - H&M
Asymmetrical skirt - Forever 21
Belt is actually a necklace - Jewlmint
Shoes - Forever 21

Its hard to believe that one year ago today I adopted my diva girl Josephina Grace. Because Josephina was rescued (by planned pethood) from a pound (the pound caught her on some street in Fulton county) I'm unaware of her birthday. So I am using her adoption day as her birthday as well.
Happy (vet thinks you are close to 2) 2nd birthday!
These photos were taken at a bingo hall. If I was brave enough to set up the tripod and get my picture taken in front of the bingo sign which faces a major street it would of looked pretty awesome. I'm not that brave so I go to the back of the building.
